Megabus Coach Amsterdam to London, Paris

Megabus offers cheap coach (bus) travel from Amsterdam to London and various other European destinations including Paris, Brussels, Barcelona and Munich. One-way fares start from around £10/€13.

Megabus is run by the Stagecoach Group which offers discount intercity bus services in the UK and US and has operated European services since 2012.

Megabus runs the following international coach services to/from Amsterdam:

Amsterdam-London Victoria: This service runs 2x daily (1 day service, 1 overnight service) in each direction. Total journey time is around 10 hours each way - with stops at Rotterdam, Antwerp, Gent and Lille - including a ferry crossing between Calais/Boulogne and Dover/Ramsgate.

Amsterdam-London times are 0845-1800 and 2100-0730. London-Amsterdam times are 1030-2030 and 2130-0900 (note, times are subject to change).

At London Victoria coach station international passengers must first check-in at the desk with their passport or relevant ID card.

Amsterdam-Brussels: Megabus operates 4x daily services between Amsterdam and Brussels with a journey time of around 3 hours. 3 of the daily services are direct, 2 of which go on to Paris and Barcelona. The one slower service makes stops at Rotterdam and Antwerp and continues to Munich.

For Amsterdam-Brussels, departure-arrival times are as follows: 1130-1430, 1500-1855, 1700-1955 and 2300-0200; for Brussels-Amsterdam times are: 0400-0640, 1045-1345, 1200-1530 and 1530-1830.

Amsterdam-Paris: Operates 2x daily (1 day service, 1 overnight service) in each direction via Brussels with travel times of about 7 1/2 hours. For Amsterdam-Paris times are 1130-1900 and 2300-0620; for Paris-Amsterdam 1030-1830 and 2330-0640.

Amsterdam-Barcelona: Megabus has recently started a 2x daily service from Amsterdam to Barcelona which takes around 24 hours. The service makes stops in Brussels, Paris, Limoges (1x daily), Brive-la-Gaillarde, and Toulouse. Times for Amsterdam-Toulouse-Barcelona are 1130-0640-1155 and 2300-1740-2255. The reverse journey times from Barcelona are 0630-1200-0640 and 1630-2200-1830.

Amsterdam-Munich: Another recent addition is the 1x daily (overnight) Amsterdam to Munich service which takes around 17 hours. Stops en route include Rotterdam, Antwerp, Brussels, Cologne, Frankfurt and Stuttgart. Times are 1500-0830 from Amsterdam and 2300-1530 from Munich.

Note also that Megabus also has a Brussels-Luxembourg service.

Megabus fares: Tickets can be bought online at the site in either £ sterling or € euros. There are no sales office points in Europe.

Prices can vary depending on the time of year - expect higher prices at peak periods such as August or around Christmas.

The lowest standard fares for Amsterdam-London are £15 or €21 each way; Amsterdam to European destinations can be bought from €10-20 each way. Note, there is a £0.50/€0.50 booking fee on top. Special free one-way fares where you just pay the booking fee are occasionally offered.

Megabus coaches have toilet facilities and free WiFi on board. Luggage allowance is 25kg plus one piece of hand baggage.

Check competitor Eurolines (National Express) which runs similar services. iDBUS is a SNCF French Railways subsidiary which runs a premium coach service between London, Amsterdam and Paris via Lille.

Megabus stop in Amsterdam: Megabus coaches depart/arrive from Zeeburg Park&Ride (P&R) coach park at Zuiderzeeweg (postcode: 1095 KJ). This location is about 4km east of central station and can be reached in 10 minutes by using GVB tram 26. The tram stop (Zuiderzeeweg/Piet Heintunnel) is literally next door to the P&R car park where the bus departs. The trams operate up to 10x hourly between 0600-0030. A one way ticket can be bought on board for €2.90, note cheaper fares are possible using an anonymous OV-chip card. Also see here for more info on public transport tickets in Amsterdam. There are also buses operating between Amsterdam central and Zuiderzeeweg including night services.

Megabus stop in London: Victoria Coach Station (stands 15-20) on Buckingham Palace Road. Across the road from Victoria train and tube stations.

Megabus stop in Brussels: Rue du Progr├Ęs alongside Brussel Noord (Gare du Nord) station. Connect to rail, bus and tram services; nearest metro station is Rogier, 700m away.

Megabus stop in Antwerp: Platinkaai near the cruise ship terminal.

Megabus stop in Gent: Akkerhage, outside Hotel Campanile. Take bus 65 or 67 to Gent St. Pieters station.

Megabus stop in Paris: Porte Maillot coach park, near the Palais de Congres - just west of the main centre. Close by are Porte Maillot station (Metro line 1) and Neuilly-Porte Maillot station (RER line C).

Megabus stop in Lille: Boulevard de Leeds lay-by - near Lille Europe station and the Euralille shopping centre. There is a Crowne Plaza hotel next to the bus stop. Lille Flandres station is about 500m away.

Megabus stop in Toulouse: Gare de Toulouse-Matabiau (station).

Megabus stop in Barcelona: Estacion del Norte (station).

Megabus stop in Cologne: Gummersbacher Strasse, a short walk from the Lanxess Arena.

Megabus stop in Frankfurt: Mannheimer Strasse close to Frankfurt Hbf main station.

Megabus stop in Stuttgart: near the Oberturkheim Bahnhof (station).

Megabus stop in Munich: outside the Zentraler Omnibus Bahnhof (station).
