Our Mission
We strive to provide relevant, up-to-date information on various aspects of Amsterdam using our local insider knowledge and experience.
We aim to do this using clear explanations and illustrated by excellent, unique imagery to help our readers get the most from their time in Amsterdam.
Background
AmsterdamTips.com was launched back in January 2007 and has been running independently for over 17 years.
At the time of its founding, there was a distinct lack of quality information in English to help international visitors – whether tourists, students or expats – to navigate their way around Amsterdam and the Netherlands.
Founder and editor Luca first came to Amsterdam in the late 1990s. He has a first-class physics degree from a British university and a Masters degree in energy conservation. He has experience working as a transport analyst and also in the financial markets including a stint on the options exchange in Amsterdam.
He has developed AmsterdamTips.com with input from a small group of local contributors.
As visitor numbers to Amsterdam have increased significantly over the years, AmsterdamTips.com has also grown and is well established as a major online Amsterdam guide.
Since 2014 the site is has been published by LF Media which is registered at the Dutch Chamber of Commerce (company number 61595608).
Our editorial address is LF Media, Korte Lijnbaanssteeg 1 (Suite 4376), 1012 SL Amsterdam
AmsterdamTips.com is an independent site and has no official connection with either amsterdam&partners (Iamsterdam) or the Dutch tourist board (NBTC Netherlands Board of Tourism & Conventions).
Prior to 2007 the AmsterdamTips.com domain had briefly been used in 2004 by the then Amsterdam Tourist and Convention Board just before it went ahead with developing its official ‘Iamsterdam’ branding.
