Amsterdam has a wide variety of interesting museums including a few must-see exhibitions with local and historical context such as the Van Gogh museum, the Rijksmuseum and Anne Frank House. You should probably plan in advance which museums most interest you and try not to tackle too many on one single trip! Note, some museums in Netherlands are closed on Mondays. The Stedelijk modern art museum is currently closed and undergoing a major renovation. |
In
general admission prices of major museums are on the medium to high level in comparison
with some other world cities. For example, the Van Gogh Museum charges adults
€14 which is approximately US$17, £12, AU$21 - for a large group this
could be quite expensive. |
|
You should seriously consider getting the annual Museumkaart if you plan to visit a number of museums and want to cut costs. The iamsterdam card is another scheme run by the tourist board which includes museum admissions and transport, but comes at a premium.
