Primark has a large flagship store in Amsterdam located at Damrak 77, opposite Beursplein and very close to Dam Square. It is only a 5-10 minute walk from Amsterdam Central station.
Primark in Amsterdam opened back in 2016, after about 3 years of building work in the former C&A complex.
Primark is a discount clothes retailer from Ireland which has become very popular in the UK and internationally with over 480 stores worldwide.
Primark was already present in the Netherlands for a number of years before the Amsterdam store opened. There are currently 19 Primark stores in the Netherlands (all listed below).
At 8,800m² in floor space spread over 7 floors, the Primark Amsterdam store is the largest Primark in the Netherlands.

There are multiple entrances to Primark Amsterdam – the main one on the Damrak side plus a back entrance from the parallel Nieuwendijk shopping street.

Primark Zaandam – Zaandam is just a 12 minute train ride north of Amsterdam. The Primark store is at Ankersmidplein 7. It’s just a short walk down from the exit of Zaandam station.
Open daily: 10:00-18:00 (Mon-Wed), 10:00-21:00 (Thu), 10:00-18:00 (Fri), 09:00-18:00 (Sat), 11:00-17:00 (Sun).
Primark Hoofddorp – Hoofdorp town is just 5 minutes by train west of Amsterdam Schiphol airport or just over 20 minutes from Amsterdam Central. From Hoofddorp station you then need to walk about 15 minutes to the main shopping area.

From what we can see, Primark’s low price fashion model has done very well in the thrifty Dutch market. The stores are busy (especially at weekends) attracting a large variety of shoppers from native Dutch to those from immigrant communities as well as visitors and tourists.
On the other hand there is a slow growing movement against the throwaway clothes culture and calls for improved work conditions in clothes production hubs like Bangladesh. You pays your money and you takes your choice.
