The Banksy Museum Amsterdam opened its doors in 2025 and is a permanent exhibition space featuring the infamous UK street artist. It has some 160 artworks and authentic reconstructions of his murals set in scene. Book Banksy Museum tickets here
The museum is located in the Westerpark area of north-east Amsterdam in a rather nondescript modern building on a small commercial estate. Perhaps an apt setting considering the underground and anti-establishment nature of his artworks.

| Banksy is an ‘anonymous’ street artist from Bristol (UK) whose public works have become world-renowned. Using both grafitti spray and stencil, his art is known for its socio-political and cultural commentary tackling themes from poverty, celebrity, consumerism, environment and war. |
On our weekday visit the museum was practically empty – but it should be able to attract some visitors from the nearby Westergas area which has the Fabrique des Lumières and Amsterdam in Motion. Apparently it is busier at the weekends.
Despite the exterior impression, the museum is surprisingly large with a dark labyrinth of rooms over 2 floors.
It has a truly impressive collection of Banksy works – apparently the world’s largest – from framed works and sculptures to reconstructions of murals/installations. Certainly a more significant archive of Banksy works than at the grander MOCO Museum in town.
The museum is independent and has not been officially sanctioned by Banksy. However the works are legally acquired and many pieces are certified by Pest Control, Banksy’s own authentication body.

The museum has partitioned the works by theme – often in a geographical context with pieces from UK, France, US and Ukraine for example, grouped together.
Labelling is done in Dutch, English and German and there is often some accompanying video footage or audio soundscape which provide further context or atmosphere.
There is also an audio tour available (€2) in Dutch, English and French which is done on your own phone (internet required).
You will see a lot of Banksy’s principal works at the museum. We are not going to list them here in this piece but we will give a flavour of a visit from the following photo set:

A visit to the museum takes about 1 hour, a bit longer if you really like to immerse yourself into the background of the works.
A couple of points of note, there is no lift between the 2 floors and there are no cafe facilities. There is a small shop selling prints and merchandise at the end of the exhibition.
The Banksy Museum is a fun, thought-provoking and must-visit museum in Amsterdam. Despite the slightly out-of-centre location, it is a great way to enjoy the legacy of the infamous street artist.
