Staying at a Schiphol hotel may be convenient if you have an early flight departure or overnight transfer at Amsterdam. Or perhaps if you are on a very short visit to Amsterdam, such as a business meeting. That said, some visitors who find a good hotel rate decide to base themselves near the airport and travel into the city each day.

The following is an overview of Amsterdam airport hotels. Some of these will be used by airlines in the event of delays and cancellations.

Hotels at Amsterdam Schiphol Airport

There are 5 hotels at Schiphol airport including 2 located within the terminal itself (departures side). Room demand is driven by business travellers so you will likely find cheaper rates at the weekend.

Sheraton Amsterdam Airport Hotel & Conference Center – This is a very convenient hotel just a short 50m covered walk from the airport station hall exit. It is the closest hotel to the airport (apart from the small and limited-access terminal hotels).

Part of the Marriott chain, it has comfortable rooms which have been recently renovated. Facilities include an atrium bar, meeting rooms and very good gym/spa facilities (currently closed). Obviously you pay a premium for the location, standard rates range €150-€350. Check prices & book

Hilton Amsterdam Airport Schiphol – The Schiphol Hilton (opened 2015) has 433 rooms and is connected by covered walkway, about 5-8 minutes walk from the terminal. The rooms are spacious and stylish, some face a large inner atrium, others have views of the airport. Standard rates range €140-€350. Check prices & book

Citizen M Schiphol Airport – This is a good budget choice, a design hotel with very small modern all-white rooms and free WiFi. The rooms have a wall-to-wall king size bed with shower and toilet pods. Perhaps it is best suited for individuals and couples. There is a 24 hour lounge bar with funky furniture. If you need supplies, Schiphol Plaza at the arrivals area has a supermarket, pharmacy and some bars/restaurants.

There are also 2 small hotels located within the airport terminal itself beyond passport control in the non-Schengen departures area. These are the Mercure Hotel Schiphol Terminal and the YOTELAir pod-style hotel.

These offer day and overnight rates and are available for transfer passengers. You cannot access these with check-in luggage.

Amsterdam Travel Ticket – This is a useful transport ticket for those staying in and around Schiphol airport. It comes as a 1/2/3 day card (€18/€24/€30) combining the airport train/bus journey to the city centre with unlimited use of GVB transport in Amsterdam. Schiphol Hotels in Hoofddorp

Hoofddorp is a town 6km west of Schiphol airport which is accessible by a regular 4 minute train ride, shuttle bus or taxi. Most of the hotels are clustered in a business park around the station.

There are NS Sprinter trains running up to 8x hourly between Hoofddorp and Amsterdam Central via Schiphol Airport. The first train to the airport leaves at about 0530. The last train from the airport to Hoofddorp departs around 0100. The journey to Amsterdam Central takes 20-25 minutes.

The nearest hotels to Hoofddorp station are the Novotel and Hampton by Hilton.

Please note, the free shuttle transfers to/from the airport may need to be pre-booked at your hotel. The shuttles can be busy and overbooked so you may need to take a taxi if pressed for time. Shuttles generally run from around 0600-0000, so are not an option for a very early flight.

A taxi between Hoofddorp and Schiphol Airport will set you back about €20.
