Van Gogh Museum Munch : Van Gogh is a major exhibition of works from both Edvard Munch (1863-1944) and Vincent van Gogh (1853-1890). In collaboration with the Munch Museum in Oslo, it runs 24 Sep 2015 to 17 Jan 2016. When I Give, I Give Myself is an exhibition where 23 contemporary artists respond to letters written by Van Gogh. Runs 20 May 2015 to 17 Jan 2016.
Rijksmuseum Reopened in April 2013 after 10 years of renovation, the Rijksmuseum's rich collection (including Rembrandt's Night Watch) is a must-see in Amsterdam. Dick Bruna - The Artist is an exhibition of dust jackets, posters, collages, drawings and of course Miffy. Runs 27 Aug to 15 Nov 2015 at the Philips Wing. Miró in the Rijksmuseum Gardens, 21 sculptures from the Spanish artist adorn the gardens 19 Jun to 11 Oct 2015. Asia in Amsterdam is an exhibition of 170 objects from China, Japan, India and Batavia - opens 17 Oct 2015 and runs until 17 Jan 2016.
Nieuwe Kerk Rome. Emperor Constantine’s Dream major exhibition about the fascinating history of Christianity’s breakthrough in Rome under Emperor Constantine. In collaboration with the Vatican Museum, Capitoline Museum and the National Roman Museum. Opens 3 Oct 2015 and runs until 7 Feb 2016.
Stedelijk ZERO: Let us explore the stars is a survey of works from the ZERO avant-garde movement of the 1950s and 60s. Open 4 July to 8 Nov 2015.
Hermitage Amsterdam Exhibition Alexander, Napoleon & Joséphine runs 28 Mar to 8 Nov 2015. Portrait Gallery of the Golden Age (opened Nov 2014) brings together for the first time 30 colossal 17th century group portraits from Amsterdam Museum and Rijksmuseum. Runs to the end of 2016.
Amsterdam Museum Graffiti. New York meets the Dam an exhibition dedicated to graffiti in New York and Amsterdam from the 1980s. Runs 18 Sep 2015 to 24 Jan 2016.
Tropenmuseum The Sixties, a Worldwide Happening, a cultural view of the dramatic changes all over the world during the 1960s. Runs 16 Oct 2015 to 13 Mar 2016. Secret Love, a contemporary art exhibition about the taboo surrounding LGBT identities in China. Runs until 8 May 2016.
Rembrandt House A Rich Tradition – explores printmaking in the Low Countries in the 16th and 17th centuries and Rembrandt’s role in it. Based on 80 prints from private collections. Runs 1 Oct 2015 to 24 Jan 2016.
Allard Pierson Museum Sicily and the Sea – a dive into the past, this exhibition features antiquities found on the sea bed around the Mediterranean island. Opens 9 Oct 2015, runs until 17 April 2016.
Anne Frank House - Fritz Pfeffer – Anne’s roommate is a temporary exhibition about the oldest of the 8 people which hid in the Secret Annexe. Runs 30 April to 1 Dec 2015.
EYE Film Michelangelo Antonioni - Il maestro del cinema moderno major exhibition devoted to the Italian director. Runs 11 Sep 2015 to 17 Jan 2016.
FOAM Magnum Contact Sheets, exhibition looking at before and after shots of iconic news photographs from 1930s to 2010, runs 11 Sep to 9 Dec 2015.
Huis Marseille Esko Männikkö/Time Flies first major retrospective of the leading Finnish photographer, running 12 Sep to 6 Dec 2015. Hanne van der Woude/ Emmy's World, a young photographer documents 3 elderly people on a trip to the mountains in France. Runs 12 Sep to 6 Dec 2015.
Oude Kerk Pride Photo Award, international contest for photos about sexual and gender diversity. Runs 12 Sep to 25 Oct 2015.
Dutch Resistance Museum Names, Not Numbers, exhibition about Dutch political prisoners in the Dachau Concentration Camp. Runs 23 April to 25 Oct 2015.
Jewish Historical Museum Romantic Masters in The Hague: Rediscovering the Verveer Brothers, exhibition about the first successful Jewish artists in the Netherlands. Runs 3 July to 1 Nov 2015. After the War was Over, photo exhibition of Jewish Amsterdam in the 1950s showing the recovery of Jewish life post-war. Opens 30 Oct 2015, runs to 14 Feb 2016.
Museum Van Loon Bachelor's Delight digital installation from Dutch artist Jasmijn Visser about the world view of a 17th century Dutchman. Running 2 Oct to 8 Nov 2015. Van de Poll at Van Loon, highlights of one of the finest portrait collections in the Netherlands, runs 9 Oct 2015 to 10 Jan 2016.
Museum of Bags and Purses Black and White: The Dresscode of a Lifetime, follows the use of black and white colours in bags from the 18th century to the present. Runs 3 Aug 2015 to 3 Jan 2016.

Toneelgroep Amsterdam – Amsterdam's renowned theatre company gives shows with English surtitles on Thursday evenings at the Stadsschouwburg theatre. The Hidden Force (De Stille Kracht) is a play about colonial Dutch Indies - will be performed on 8 Oct 2015 at 2000. Medea is an adaptation of the Greek tragedy, directed by noted Australian actor, writer and director Simon Stone - performed on Thursday 15 Oct 2015 at 2030.

North Sea Jazz Club Hosts a wide variety of jazz, funk, soul and world music every weekend (Friday & Saturday) at the Westergasfabriek. Dinner concerts include a 3 course meal by the in-house chef.
ANNE – Major ongoing theatre production of the diary of Anne Frank covering the 2 years Anne and family spent hiding in the Secret Annex. Held at the new Theater Amsterdam, a purpose-built theatre with 11,000 seats in the Westelijke Houthavens district, just north-west of the centre. Opened in May 2014, the play generally runs Wednesday to Sunday with shows afternoon 1400-1710 and/or evening 2000-2310. There is an onsite restaurant (Boven de Planken) serving lunch or dinner 2 1/2 hours before the show. Note, the play is performed in Dutch, however there is a multilingual translation system for foreign visitors using tablets. Tickets on sale for dates up to the end of December 2015.
