Nieuwe Leliestraat 162, T: 625 2041 De Waaghals - Veggie, mainly-organic restaurant not far from the Heineken brewery. Menu changes regularly, informal atmosphere, outside dining possible. Frans Halsstraat 29, T: 679 9609 Umoja - "Fair trade" restaurant inspired and supported by Dutch rock band Blof. Named after their album Umoja. Uses mainly organic, meat/fish/veg options. Located near south-western edge of Vondelpark at Amstelveenseweg 154, T: 770 6420 De Peper - A legalised squat with organic kitchen open on Tuesday, Friday and Sunday evening staffed by volunteers. Food is organic and vegan. Reservations can be made on the evening 1600-1830 (T: 412 2954), note there is no table service. You are expected to pay between €6-€10 for a soup and main, deserts are €1.50 extra. Located at Overtoom 301. Unlimited Health - Yoga centre in De Pijp which has a small cafe open Monday to Friday (1200-2000) which serves raw, organic meals and fresh juices. Van Ostadestraat 234 A+B, T: 670 1705. The Orangery - Cafe in the Orangery building (1875) inside the Hortus botanical gardens - note, you need to pay admission to enter the grounds. The cafe serves locally-sourced organic drinks and snacks. Plantage Middenlaan 2a, T: 625 9021 Shakies - Juice bar at Amsterdam Central and Amsterdam Amstel stations. Some products are organically sourced including the coffee. Note, Shakies is not an independent business but is owned by NS Dutch railways. Natuurlijk Smullen - The first organic "snackbar" in Netherlands, established in 2008. Self-made organic chips. Meat, fish, veggie and vegan snacks available. Out to the west at Jan van Galenstraat 78, T: 779 0245 't Wethoudertje - Another organic snackbar in Watergraafsmeer area on the eastern side of the city. Wethouder Frankeweg 11, T: 668 0903 Green Meals - An organic deli selling own-made dishes including soups, salads, sandwiches, pasta & quiches. The basis is vegetarian but with meat options available. All organic ingredients, around 80% Dutch-sourced. They are in the Jordaan at Lindengracht 158, T: 427 2720 - they do deliver locally including to Amsterdam centre.
