Van Gogh Museum:
Van Gogh and the colours of the night” exhibition in collaboration with New York’s MoMA – “evoking the atmosphere of the evening and night” in Van Gogh paintings including the Starry Night. € 2.50 surcharge applies for adults. Runs to June 7th 2009.

Amsterdam Historic Museum:
Old Masters of Amsterdam” Exhibition including paintings from Rembrandt, Flinck etc. Runs to August 9th 2009.

MuseumWeekend
The 28th annual MuseumWeekend where many museums in Amsterdam (and the rest of the Netherlands) open their doors for free entry to the public. It does get busy though… April 4th/5th 2009.

Queen’s Day
Party time in Amsterdam and Netherlands with flea markets, concerts and general revelry celebrating the birthday of the Queen. Wearing orange is compulsory! April 30th 2009.

Rijksmuseum – “For The Love of God” – Damien Hirst

Damien Hirst’s “For The Love of God” has arrived at the Rijksmuseum. The infamous diamond encrusted skull will be on show between November 1st and December 15th 2008. The first week of the exhibition has been extremely popular bringing many more visitors to the museum than normal.

The work is sited in the Phillips wing of the Rijksmuseum and is exhibited along with works from the Dutch Golden Age.

If you don’t have a museumkaart then buy your tickets online to avoid queues.
