De Jaren - Grand Cafe in Amsterdam
De Jaren is one of Amsterdam's best grand cafes. Situated right in the heart of the city centre just off Muntplein, De Jaren is a very popular meeting point for locals / visitors alike and is usually buzzing with atmosphere. |
Opened in 1990, the cafe is light and spacious being spread out over 2 floors and also includes outer terraces overlooking the Amstel. On the ground floor there is a wide choice of international newspapers and magazines whilst upstairs there is a reasonably priced restaurant.
When really busy it can be difficult to get a table and the service can be a little hit and miss but overall this cafe is a great spot for people watching.
